During the 19th century, the Royal Opera House underwent a major transformation, with the addition of a grand portico and a new auditorium. It was during this time that it became known as the Royal Opera House, and became the official home of the Royal Ballet.”
During World War II, the Royal Opera House was bombed and severely damaged. It took several years to rebuild, but in 1946 it reopened its doors and once again became the home of some of the most spectacular performances in the world.”
