What Makes a Good Travel Watch

What Makes a Good Travel Watch ?

Nowadays watches have become less of a necessity and more of accessory, more people rely on their mobile phone to work out what time it is, rather than looking a watch, however when travelling it reverts to being an necessity, one doesn’t always have a mobile phone to hand, when you mobile has been packed away deep inside your luggage, maybe you don’t want to get stung by ridiculous roaming charges.

So what makes a good travel watch,

depending on where you are visiting and how you are travelling, different watches are best for the different trips or adventures you go on!

So here’s a list of the main things I require from my trusted timepiece.

  1. Waterpoof: adventure or vacations your watch should defiantly be waterproof, (sorry Rolex Copyright) water resistant, whether it’s the Sahara desert or Phi Phi island. There are several reasons for this, its not just water that can kill a travel watch but sand sea and salt, also if you on a beach or or just hanging by the  swimming pool in fact even just taking a shower, the less times you take it off the list times will have of losing it one way or another.
  2. Night vision: sound very convert ;-/ many of the places you visit, quaint as they may be might not be so well lit at night, therefore a watch that eliminates or is readable when it’s dark is a big plus.
  3. Stop Watch: I’ve always found useful, is a watch that has some sort of timing mechanism allowing you to know how long car or even how long it takes to walk to the townie point A to point B so as you know how long it will take to get home in time for dinner or whatever appointment you have.

So watches are broken down into two basic categories digital and analogue, maybe you fancy yourself as a Navy seals or SAS type, or feels digital is better or maybe you might need to use the watch as a compass if you’re ever stuck in the Sahara desert ;-/ Digital has less parts to go wrong can cover all categories above for a very low price. No matter who we are most of us have a certain style or statement which includes the wearing of a watch, just like having the latest Phone, however when you’re travelling you need to be practical.

It’s not worth dying over an accessory!

So you’ve worked hard and you got a bit of dosh, and bought yourself a classy yet pricey watch, do you take it on holiday/vacation with you. Maybe it all depends where you’re going and how your travelling.  For example if your on a cruise you’d be fine with an expensive watch, but if you’re travelling alone or even just you and your partner you need to be a bit more careful.

I’m lucky enough to have one such watch that was given to me for services rendered, however when  I’m travelling I think very carefully about wearing a pricey watch in some counties area, where the chances are you would be more likely to be robbed or pick pocketed than if you are hanging out at the Ritz-Carlton in London.

My watch for travelling, I bought a watch on my way to Asia, no not a Rolex, Tag Heuer or breitling, so what did i buy, a Timex, yep that’s right a Timex!!
